Glenda Yoder, age 61 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., received her new body Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at home surrounded by her family after a courageous fight with cancer. Glenda was born January 25, 1956 in Tuscumbia, Mo., the daughter of Lloyd D. and Bonnie Carico Bilyeu. She was married on October 11, 1975 in Jefferson City, Mo. to Rick Yoder. A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Glenda was a 1974 graduate of Jefferson City High School and worked at the tennis courts under the Jefferson City Parks and Recreation Department while in high school. She later attended the Midwestern School of Evangelism in Ottumwa, Iowa where she met her husband, Rick. Glenda was employed as a Medical Billing Clerk for over 35 years in the health care profession until ill health forced her retirement on February 23, 2015. She began her professional career with Doerhoff Surgical Services (1980-1997), later worked with Dr. Diane Light (1997-2008), and retired from medical billing at Capital Region Medical Center (2008-2015). She was an active member of the Capital West Christian Church and loved to support Rick in his ministry. Previously, she was a member of the Highway 54 Church of Christ from 1978 until 2000 where she played the piano. Ms. Glenda found her calling with children's ministry, especially pre-school children. She was a gifted Sunday school teacher and children loved her story telling ability. She became a trusted friend and mentor to many young women at the church. Glenda was extremely creative and enjoyed crafting, yard sales, and decorating her home. She was especially known for her unique Christmas trees that she would plan all year. Most importantly, she cherished her time with her family and grandchildren, who lovingly called her Dat. Survivors include: her husband of 41 years, Rick Yoder; one son, Jason Yoder and his wife Beth of Jefferson City, Mo.; her mother, Bonnie Bilyeu Pinet of Jefferson City, Mo.; one brother, Jon Pinet of Jefferson City, Mo.; three grandchildren, Levi James Yoder, Nathan Richard Yoder, and Rachel Anne Yoder; one aunt, Linda Kelsey of Jefferson City, Mo.; four sisters-in-law, Maridel Braman and her husband Eric, Shirley Larsen and her husband Rod, Edie McCurdy and her husband Ken, and Becki Hamilton and her husband Don; and several nieces and nephews.
