Fred A. Stockman, 82, of Wardsville, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 30, 1934, in Wardsville, a son of the late Roy C. and Rose (Markway) Stockman. On June 3, 1961, he was united in marriage to Kathryn "Kay" Fennewald at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City, she survives at the home. Fred grew up in Wardsville and attended St. Stanislaus Catholic School. He served his country in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958. He was a life long member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, a member of the Wardsville Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus. He volunteered at the VFW in Jefferson City. As well as being a life long farmer, he was employed at Cole County Industries until his retirement in 2007. Fred was previously employed by Leo Otke Construction, Stockman Feed and Fertilizer, Uregas, and Roeth Sand and Gravel Plant. Fred enjoyed gardening, farming, hunting, fishing, bowling, playing cards and telling his life stories. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. His all-time favorite was teasing them and using his "Attention Getter Finger!" to make everyone laugh. Along with his wife Kay, he is survived by his children: Carla Stockman of Wardsville, Doug Stockman (Tina) of St. Thomas, Curt Stockman (Michele) of Eugene, Tom Stockman (Amy) of Osage Bend, Rhonda Franken (Kris) of Linn Creek; 10 grandchildren: Sheldon Stockman, Zachary Stockman (Alanna Wansing fiancée), Taylor Watts (Ethan Franks fiancé), Katelyn Otto (Donnie), Paige Watts (Tyler Bond), Madison Stockman (Justin Vanderfeltz), Renee Stockman, Macey Stockman, Jeremy Stockman and Olivia Franken; great-grandson to arrive in March, 2017: Rhennin Franks; brother: Francis Stockman (Shirley), sister; Alice DeWesplore (JB), both of Wardsville and sister-in-law: Gerri Stockman of Jefferson City. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Willard Stockman, Dave Stockman, his wife Wanda, and LeRoy Stockman, his wife Delores; and two sisters: Ida Mae Mertens, husband Bud, and Catherine Mertens, husband Roger. Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017, at Houser Millard Funeral Directors with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Wardsville with Fr. Greg Meystrik officiating. Entombment with full military honors will follow in St. Stanislaus Catholic Mausoleum in Wardsville.
