Sandy Dale Duncan, 54, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 12, 2017. He was born December 6, 1962, in Lebanon, Mo., the son of Dale and Sharon Duncan. After attending high school in Dixon, Mo., Sandy joined the Army hoping to become an Army Ranger Paratrooper but to his disappointment was medically discharged. He then became an officer for the Missouri Department of Corrections. Sandy retired June 1, 2016, after 30 years of service due to health reasons. He also worked security for two of the Hy-Vee stores in Columbia for a number of years. Sandy and Jennifer were married June 27, 1992, in Jefferson City, Mo. and were blessed with four wonderful children. One of his greatest enjoyments in life was taking his family to Silver Dollar City in Branson. Sandy was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed singing praises to the Lord. He also enjoyed gathering history on the Missouri State Penitentiary, going to flea markets, and antique malls. He loved to spend time at the family farm in Dixon. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Jennifer of the home; parents Dale and Sharon Duncan of Dixon, Mo.; daughters, Tasha (Chris) Winkler of California, Mo. and Kayla Duncan of Jefferson City; sons, Nathaniel Duncan and Joel Duncan of the home; grandchildren, Clay Winkler, Cadence Winkler, Haley Winkler of California, Mo. and grandson due to arrive in March; sister, Angela Reid (Ray); two nieces and nephew, Lake Reid, Rossi Reid, and Carys Reid. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 16, at Solid Rock Family Church. Sandy, like the apostle Paul fought a good fight, finished the race and kept the faith.
