Grover C. Johnson II

Grover C. Johnson II, 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 7, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family in McGirk, Mo. He was born on August 22, 1939, in Sherrill, Missouri to Grover and Helen (Fry) Johnson, both of whom preceded him in death. He grew up near Sherrill, Mo. Grover graduated from Linn Technical College in 1969 with a degree in electronics. Through the years he worked various jobs, however he was a truck driver at heart. He saw value in everything and could repair anything. Traveling to the mountains throughout the United States was a favorite past time. He was always available to help anyone, friend or stranger. He was Past Worshipful Master three times and held various other offices in the California Lodge #183 AF & AM. Grover was loved by his family and friends. Grover is survived by: his wife of 36 years, Leona Johnson of the home; children, Hellen Adrian (Steve) of Holts Summit, Grover C. Johnson lll (Mary) of Osage Beach, and Theresa E. Bruce (Wayne) of Jefferson City; three step-children, Donna Crump (Robert) and Joseph Butler, all of Moscow Mills, Bonnie Ayres Laswell of Wichita, Kan.; three sisters; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: one sister, Oma W. Johnson who passed away March 16, 1996; two wives, Naomi "Irene" Weaver Johnson who passed away in 1968, Helen F. Ayres Johnson who passed away in 2013. He was also preceded in death by his beloved Rottweiler, Jeannie. The family will receive friends at Windmill Ridge Funeral Service on Friday, August 11, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Funeral services will be at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 11, 2017, with Jack Bowlin officiating, with Masonic Services. Interment will be at Hutchason Cemetery, near Licking, Mo. on August 12, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the California Masonic Lodge Fellowship Association or St. Jude's Hospital.
