Ronald Herbert "Ronnie" Muenks, 78, of St. Martins, died Sunday, April 23, 2017, at The Arbors at Westbrook Terrace in Jefferson City, Missouri. He was born May 4, 1938, in Cadet Creek, Missouri near Loose Creek, Missouri, the son of the late Norbert Mathias and Hilda Cecelia (Porting) Muenks. Ronnie was a 1957 graduate of Fatima High School in Westphalia, Missouri. He was united in marriage on April 9, 1967, at St. Louis of France Catholic Church in Bonnots Mill, Missouri, to Irene Josephine Schmid, who preceded him in death on January 27, 2015. An veteran of the United States Army, Ronnie worked most of his adult life for Chesebrough-Pond's/Unilever in Jefferson City, Missouri until a back injury forced him to retire. He was an active member of the St. Martin Parish where he was a communion minister, a parish council member, and a member of the St. Martin Knights of Columbus. Ronnie volunteered for many years with the Helias Band Booster program. Ronnie was always available to lend a helping hand when asked or if he saw a need. Ronnie was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many an afternoon fishing local ponds and lakes with family and friends. He also enjoyed gardening and especially tinkering with Lawn Boy lawn mowers. He spent many an hour enjoying the challenge of the latest broken Lawn Boy he had purchased at a rummage sale or auction. Of special importance was his grandchildren. Ronnie enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and attending their activities. Survivors include three children: Michael (Anastasia) Muenks, California, Mo.; Rhonda Muenks, Jefferson City, Mo.; Joyce (Travis) Hoskins, St. Martin, Mo.; five grandchildren: Allison Muenks, Matthew Hoskins, Nathan Hoskins, Eva Muenks, and Lucy Muenks; five siblings: James Muenks (Mary Ann), Edgewood, Wash.; Edgar Muenks (Judith), Linn, Mo.; Marybeth Ligibel, Florissant, Mo.; Robert Muenks, (Shirley), Jefferson City, Mo.; David Muenks, Lee's Summit, Mo.; eight brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Arbell Vogel, Jefferson City, Mo.; Dorothy Welch (Don), Jefferson City, Mo.; Emma Bonnot, Jefferson City, Mo.; Donald Schmid (Patricia), Linn, Mo.; Vera Gerling (Donald), Jefferson City, Mo.; Ann Groner (David), Berger, Mo.; Hilda Eichholz (Leon), Wardsville, Mo.; Ruth Miles (Albert), Indian Creek, Mo.; and 57 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one sister-in-law, Rose Marie Dudenhoeffer; and five brothers-in-law, Robert Ligibel, Julius Vogel, Bernard Dudenhoeffer, Richard Lecure, and Louis Bonnot. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m., Tuesday, April 25 at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 noon, Wednesday, April 26, at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martins.
