Irma Ann Kleffner

Irma Ann Kleffner, 92, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017, at Heisinger Bluffs Care Center with her oldest granddaughter, Alison, by her side holding her hand. She was born on April 11, 1925, in Taos, Mo., a daughter of the late John and Lydwina (Bernskoetter) Leigers. She was united in marriage on May 29, 1948, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Taos to Raymond John Kleffner, they had 68 years together until he preceded her in death on July 21, 2016. Irma attended school in Taos, Mo. She began her full time employment at the age of 16 at Oberman Manufacturing Co. during World War II, then later Tweedie Footwear, International Shoe Company and retired in 1987 from Scholastic, Inc. after 19 plus years as a supervisor. Irma was among the first employees hired when Scholastic opened their doors in Jefferson City in February, 1968. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and enjoyed traveling, quilting and working in her garden. She was an exceptionally good cook and enjoyed cooking large family meals for every holiday. Irma was an avid shopper and bingo player in her heyday. Her family was her life and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren watching them grow and relish in their achievements. She is survived by her daughter: Linda Kleffner Scrivner (Ron Sheely) of Jefferson City; son: Roger Kleffner of Jefferson City; grandchildren: Alison Mooney Wade (Jared) of Jefferson City, Aaron Mooney (Adria Allen) of Columbia, Brent Kleffner of Jefferson City, and Erin Kleffner Edwards of Roeland Park, Kansas; great-grandchildren: Courtney Schnieders of Quincy, Illinois. Alexander Oppenheim of Jefferson City. Kelsey Sandlin of Rolla. and Samuel Wade of Jefferson City; brother-in-law: Donald Kleffner of Jefferson City; sisters-in-law: Henrietta Kleffner of Jefferson City, Jeanne Kleffner of Half Moon Bay, California, Vickie Leigers of Jefferson City, and Yvonne Leigers of Jefferson City; and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers: Albert Leigers, Clarence "Clem" Leigers, William "Bill" Leigers and Walter Leigers; sister: Edna Leigers Neuner; brothers-in-law: Lawrence, Otto, Charles Andrew, Clarence, Joseph, Walter, and Alfred Kleffner; sisters-in-law: Nancy Kleffner and Dorothy Kleffner. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2017, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum.
