Lonnie Kay Omer

Lonnie Kay Omer, 74, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, September 19, 2016, at Oak Tree Villas. She was born March 15, 1942, in Carrington, North Dakota, the daughter of the late Loy and Ruth (Strauss) Davis. Her family settled on a farm near Fayette, Missouri. She was a 1959 graduate of Fayette High School in Fayette. She later attended Central Methodist College in Fayette. Kay was united in marriage on July 14, 1961, in Fayette, Missouri to Dick Omer who survives. She and Dick raised three children and were married 55 years. As a homemaker, Kay spent the majority of her life loving and caring for her family. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Church in Howard County Missouri and attended Community Christian Church in Jefferson City. Her faith and devotion to God was an important aspect of her life. Kay was always a giving person, more concerned with the welfare of others than herself. Her positive outlook on life was inspiring to those around her. In her spare time she enjoyed arts and crafts, playing bridge, and refinishing antiques. Survivors include her husband, Dick Omer, Jefferson City; three children, Danny (Beth) Omer, Lee's Summit, Mo.; Greg (Tracy) Omer, Labadie, Mo.; Kari Omer, Franklin, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Zach Omer, Olivia Omer, Joe Omer, Clay Bibby, Alayna Bibby, Susannah Bibby, Danielle Omer, Boone Omer; and three siblings, Phyllis Detherow, Higbee, Mo.; Ruth Ann (Bill) Welch, Jefferson City; and Mike (Debbie) Davis, Higbee, Mo. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with the Dr. Monte Shinkle officiating. Graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Center Cemetery in Center, Missouri. The family suggests memorials to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Gateway Area Chapter, 4816 Santana Circle, Columbia, MO 65203 as a remembrance for Kay's strong fight against Multiple Sclerosis.
