Martin Joseph Struemph, 82, of Wardsville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on Sunday, September 18, 2016, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on April 17, 1934, in Freeburg, a son of the late Frank Joseph and Rose Hubertina (Otto) Struemph. On June 6, 1959, he was united in marriage at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth to Clara M. Engetschwiler, who survives at the home. Martin attended Holy Family Grade School in Freeburg. He graduated in 1952 from Fatima High School in Westphalia. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and the Wardsville/Osage Bend Knights of Columbus Council 8399. Martin proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958 in Germany. He worked at Unilever, Von Hoffman Press, McGraw Edison, Shyrach Hirst and the International Shoe Factory. He loved bragging about and spending time with his family, grandchildren and especially his great-grandsons. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals, Blair Oaks Falcon Football which was in his backyard. He loved to play cards, and especially enjoyed playing BINGO. In addition to his wife Clara of 57 years, he is survived by four sons, Mark (Diane) Struemph of Jefferson City, Dale (Angie) Struemph of Vienna, Daniel (Rhonda) Struemph of Wardsville, Donald (Pamela) Struemph of Wardsville; one daughter, Brenda (Michael) Eichholz of Loose Creek; five sisters, Arline (Ed) Lueckenotto of Jefferson City, Joan (Tom) Schnieders of Wardsville, Judy (William) Heckman of Koeltztown, Sylvia (Forrest) Frank of Rich Fountain, Donna (Robert) Schellman of St. Thomas; eight grandchildren, Leslie (Sam) Barnhart, Jason (Abby) Struemph, Megan Struemph (fianc Zach Seales), Kody Struemph (Roxy Wieberg), Marcus (Victoria) Struemph, Kacey (Brandon) Shipman, Benjamin Struemph, Alexi Struemph; great-grandsons, Jack Struemph, Hudson Barnhart, William Struemph, Hoyt Barnhart, James "Baelor" Shipman, Zander Struemph, Karson Wieberg and baby Barnhart due March 2017; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, David Struemph and Alphonse Struemph; and one sister, Marcella Utterback and her husband Tom. Family and friends will be received from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2016, at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Fr. Ignazio C. Medina officiating. Entombment will follow in the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church Cemetery Mausoleum.
