Henry Sterling James Jr., 65, of Vienna, departed this life surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, September 18, 2016, at the Capital Regional Medical Center, Jefferson City. He was born on January 7, 1951, in Vienna, a son of Henry Sterling and Verna Mae (Ousley) James. Mr. James was united in marriage on May 27, 1978, at Jefferson City, to Cynthia Mary Mueller, and to this union, two children were born. Mr. James was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg and had worked as a computer programmer and analyst for DST Systems in Kansas City for 18 years. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, golf, grilling, traveling, camping with his wife and being with his grandchildren. Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. James include: his loving wife of 38 years, Cindy James of the home, Vienna; his daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Doug Collins, Vienna; five grandchildren, Jenna Collins, Jadyn Anderson, Tyler Collins, Nicholas Collins and Ellie Anderson; his mother, Verna James of Jefferson City; Jadyn and Ellie Anderson's parents, Bryan and Jessica Anderson, Taos; one sister, Emily Eikermann of Jefferson City; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Winston and Debby Kliethermes, Bobby and Denise Mueller, Kenny Mueller, all of Jefferson City and Phillip and Cathy Sestak, Freeburg; nephews; nieces; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one son, Henry Sterling "Hank" James III on November 12, 1999; and his father, Henry, on May 30, 1995. A Prayer Service will be held for Mr. James at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, with the Rev. Bill Debo leading, followed by visitation from 5-7 p.m. Visitation will also be from 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2016, all in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mr. James at 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2016, in the Holy Family Church, Freeburg, with the Rev. Bill Debo celebrating. Interment will be in the Holy Family Cemetery, Freeburg, under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Memorials are suggested by the family to the Holy Family School with envelopes available at the Church or the Vienna Office of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.
