Mrs. Sharon L. Pohlmann, age 63 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Friday, October 14, 2016, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital. Sharon was born August 24, 1953 in Beatrice, Nebraska, the daughter of Mark A. and Thelma L. (Kerl) Kirk. She was married on September 4, 1971 in Washington, Mo., to James G. Pohlmann. Sharon graduated from New Haven High School in New Haven, Mo. and attended the Capital Business College in Jefferson City. She was employed with Nancy's Trade-A-Book in Jefferson City and Columbia until ill health forced her retirement. Previously, she worked at Wal-Mart in Washington, Mo. and the Woodhill Shoe Factory in Union, Mo. A resident of Jefferson City since 1985, Sharon was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She enjoyed St. Louis Cardinal Baseball, fishing, playing cards, swimming, cross-stitching, and ceramics. She was an avid reader and spent many hours on the computer playing games. She loved being outdoors and planting flowers in her yard. Most importantly, she cherished spending time with her family and keeping up with extended family through Facebook. Survivors include: her husband of 45 years, Jim Pohlmann; three daughters, Tina Pohlmann, Michelle Pohlmann, and Jamie Pohlmann, all of Jefferson City, Mo.; two sisters, Louise Grant and her husband Tom of Jefferson City, Mo. and Judith Schuelen and her husband Leroy of Meta, Mo.; three brothers, Clarence H. Kirk and his wife Becky of Colorado Springs, Colo., Bill Kirk of Poplar Bluff, Mo., James Kirk of the state of Washington; one grandson, Brenden McKinney of Jefferson City, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Samuel R. Kirk and Tom Kirk; and one sister, Diana K. Eising. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2016. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2016 in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Shane Crum officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at Longview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Sharon L. Pohlmann Memorial Fund.
