Helen E. Schneider, 103, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at Heisinger Bluffs. She was born February 1, 1913, in Moniteau County, Missouri, a daughter of the late John H. and Clemma E. (Binkley) Van Pool. She was a 1932 graduate of Jefferson City High School. On March 28, 1936, Helen was united in marriage in St. Louis, Missouri, to Eugene G. Schneider, who preceded her in death on June 2, 1996. Helen worked at Tweedie Shoe Factory from 1935 - 1948. She was co-owner and sales representative for Gene Schneider Refrigeration & Appliance Company and Jefferson City Distributing Company until her retirement. Helen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Trinity Lutheran Ladies Auxiliary. She was Alter Chairman of Trinity Circle Six at Trinity Lutheran Church, and a member of the Lutheran Laymen's League. She was a former Boy Scout Troop 8 Den Mother and was volunteer with Hospice of Jefferson City for many years. She was also a member of the following organizations: Local China Painters Club, World Organization of China Painters, the Lioness Auxiliary, and a former member of Meadow Lake Acres Country Club. Helen is survived by a son: Gene P. (Judy) Schneider of Jefferson City; one grandson: Christopher (Kelly) Schneider of Jefferson City; one great-grandson: Nolan Schneider; two nephews: Douglas (Roxy) Van Pool of Jefferson City and Patrick Schneider of Washington; two nieces: Claudia Pawley of Oklahoma and Diana Schaffner of Texas and many great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: one brother: Claude F. Van Pool and one sister: Jerene Oswald. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 17, 2016, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 17, 2016, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Sam Powell and Chaplain Jim Mueller officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or Riverview Cemetery.
