Monica Catherine (Boeckmann) Bisges Bruemmer, 91, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at Oak Tree Villas surrounded by her family and the loving presence of the Lord and the Virgin Mary. She was born June 7, 1925, in Koeltztown, the eldest daughter of the late Stephan and Adelheide (Luebbert) Boeckmann. On September 23, 1947, she was united in marriage to Anton "Tony" Henry Bisges, who preceded her in death on December 3, 1998, after more than 50 years of marriage. On November 29, 2003, in Jefferson City, she married Victor Frank Bruemmer who preceded her in death on February 6, 2010, after seven years of marriage. After graduating eighth grade from St. Boniface School in Koeltztown, Monica began her career at the age of 13. She worked as a nanny, housekeeper, and cook for a prominent family in Jefferson City in order to send money home to help save the family farm. She helped the World War II effort by working at Oberman's as a seamstress making soldiers pants and other uniform accessories. She was employed for a period of time at Tweedies Shoe Factory until her marriage to Tony. Monica and Tony provided a home for their brothers and sisters in Jefferson City as they began their careers. While raising her own family of five, she babysat and ironed for other families to help supplement her own family's income. Monica worked as a cook at Immaculate Conception School for numerous years and Czarlinsky's Clothing Store until its closing after her children were grown. She continued to work at Milo Walz Drapery Department until her retirement. Monica was devoted to her husband and family. She was a homemaker and a splendid cook. She loved to dance, quilt, tend the gardens, play cards and Bingo, however, spending time with family and friends was number one in her life. She took up oil (acrylic) painting at age 91 and completed several pieces. She also enjoyed adult coloring, which she often referred to as her quilting. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church since her marriage in 1947. She was a member of the St. Ann's Sodality and Quilt Guild and the Immaculata Club. She assisted for many years in preparing and serving at the funeral luncheons at the church. Survivors include her five children: Linda Catherine (Michael) Veit, Roger Allen (Lynn) Bisges, Neal Francis (Donna) Bisges, Doris Ann Sandbothe (L. Scott), all of Jefferson City, and Lisa Marie Smith of Truckee, Calif.; seven siblings: Viola (Elmer) Weber of Westphalia, Anna Marie (William) Reinkemeyer of Jefferson City, Frances Schwartze of Vienna, Rosemary Bishop of Centertown, David (Esther) Boeckmann of Taos, Arthur (Helen) Boeckmann of Wardsville; grandchildren: Stacy Veit, Anne (Kyle) Jundt, Brian (Elizabeth) Veit, John Bisges, Joyce Wentz, Katie (Seth) Shasserre, Samantha (Danny) AlFarqure, Kelly Bisges, Megan Sandbothe, Jacob Sandbothe, Molly Sandbothe, Austin Smith, Amy Smith; step-children: Judy (Dennis) Braun of Osage Bend, Mary Kay Watters of Jacksonville, Fla., Jeanne (James) McGuire of Jefferson City, Susan McKinney of Jefferson City, Brenda (Alan A.J.) Wansing of Meta, Debbie (Isadore) Forck of Taos, Charles (Linda) Bruemmer of Jefferson City, Gary (Lora) Bruemmer of Jefferson City; eight great-grandchildren: Ava and Jaxon Jundt, Tyler and Sydney Shasserre, Ben and Kate Veit, Daphne and Phoebe Wentz; and numerous nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law: Hugo Bisges and Kenneth Schroer; and sisters-in-law: Agnes (Ken) Uplinger and Bernice Boeckmann. Monica was preceded in death by one son-in-law: David Smith; six brothers: Alphonse (Clara) Boeckmann, Victor (Margie) Boeckmann, Lawrence (Emma) Boeckmann, Herbert Boeckmann, Joseph (Anna) Boeckmann and Raymond Boeckmann; in-laws: Aggie and Clarence Bisges, Angela and Robert Martin, Rosaline Bisges, Emil Bisges and Gertrude Schroer. Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2016, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, with a Prayer Service at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Fr. Cesar A. Anicama celebrating Mass. Entombment will be in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
