Elsie Edna (Gross) Sandlin

Elsie Edna (Gross) Sandlin, 88, of Perryville, Mo., died on Tuesday, October 11, 2016. She was born on May 28, 1928, at Menfro, Mo., the daughter of Edmund and Hilda (Tiedemann) Gross. On May 23, 1948, she married Willard J. Sandlin of Perryville, Mo. Elsie worked at the local shoe factory in Perryville for 43 years before she retired. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church in Perryville for 57 years before moving with her husband to Jefferson City, Mo., to live with their son. While a member of Immanuel, she was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionaries League; she served as a greeter, evangelism prayer partner and helped with social ministry. In October of 2009, she moved to Independence Care Center in Perryville, Mo. She is survived by two sons, Kenneth W. Sandlin (Marcia) of Hillsboro, Ill. and Dennis J. Sandlin of Jefferson City, Mo.; one grandson, Jeffrey N. Sandlin (Meridith) of Waterloo, Iowa; and one brother-in-law, Gilbert Moore of Perryville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Harold Gross and Albert Gross; and two sisters, Luella Atchison and Murla Moore. Visitation will be at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville, Mo., on Monday, October 17, 2016, from 5-8 p.m. and on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, from 6:30-8:15 a.m. The funeral will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Thomas Handrick officiating. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Perryville, Mo. Young and Sons Funeral Home, Inc. in Perryville, Mo. provided the arrangements.
