Bonnie Marie Rodgers, 99, of Jefferson City, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016, at Adams Street Place in Jefferson City. She was born on June 17, 1916, in Bird City, Kan., the daughter of George P. and Nellie Rae (Austin) Reuling, who preceded her in death. She was united in marriage on August 18, 1941, in Papillion, Neb., to Robert G. Rodgers, who preceded her in death on January 31, 1981. She was a 1935 graduate of Blair High School in Blair, Neb. As a young woman, Bonnie loved attending dances every Saturday night with her friends, where she met her future husband, Robert. He was working for the CCC Camp planting trees in Blair, Neb. As a married couple, they resided in Kansas City, Kan., where Bonnie worked for B & C Printing as a Cost Accountant until her retirement. Bonnie and Robert relocated from Kansas City, Kan., to Jefferson City in 1978, where they became members of the Cathedral of St. Joseph. As a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, she volunteered in many positions within the parish. She enjoyed making crafts, stuffed animals and items for the Annual Cathedral of St. Joseph Bazaars. She worked for many days prior to the Baazars, planning and crafting for the Sewing Booth. During the day of the Baazars, Bonnie could be found working at the booth and serving the parish. She served funeral dinners, special luncheons and enjoyed helping in the school cafeteria. Her faith was strong and her love of the parish was abounding. She was a member of the St. Joseph's Women's Association. She enjoyed sewing and crafting, traveling with her daughter, Karen, to places such as Alaska, New Orleans, Scotland, Ireland, Palm Springs and many other places. She loved her family and treasured the time she spent with them. She is survived by: one daughter, Karen (Dana) Basel of Jefferson City; one niece, Bernice Scott of Blair, Neb.; one nephew, Warner (Betty) Guy of Omaha, Neb.; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Irene Wattenbarger; two brothers, Lawrence and Everett Reuling; and one niece, Bonnie Conway. Family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with Fr. Christopher Aubuchon officiating. Interment will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
