Virgil F. Vanderfeltz, 94, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2016, at Westphalia Hills. He was born on September 28, 1921, in Jefferson City, the son of John C. and Elizabeth (Veltrop) Vanderfeltz, who preceded him in death. He was a 1939 graduate of St. Peter's High School and a 1943 graduate of St. Benedicts College in Atchinson, Kansas. Virgil was the foreman of the Vanderfeltz Dairy Farm and a lifetime farmer. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Burleigh APA-95 as a Lieutenant (Junior Grade). Virgil was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He enjoyed cutting wood to heat the "Big House" and other family members homes. He loved being with his family at "get togethers" on the farm. Virgil was a friend to all and liked to visit with anyone. He is survived by two nephews: Dave (Judy) Vanderfeltz of Westphalia and Geroid Lix of Jackson, Mo., five nieces: Rita Puckett of Jefferson City, Geraldine Vanderfeltz of Westphalia, Madeline Sutherlin of Lee's Summit, Betty (Larry) Groves of Jefferson City, and Stephanie Balcer; numerous great-nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Albert Vanderfeltz, Gerhardt Vanderfeltz and Herbert Vanderfeltz; two sisters: Cecilia Welter and Irene Brenner. Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2016, at Houser-Millard Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 3:15 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Simeon Etonu officiating. Interment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery with full military honors. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Helias High School-Building Fund.
