Jewel Beatrice Brandt, 101, of Chamois, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2016, in Jefferson City. She was born in Mint Hill on November 3, 1914, the daughter of Austin and Annie (Malan) Staley, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married to Orville Brown, who preceded her in death. She later married Clarence Brandt, who preceded her in death in 1975. She lived independently in her own home until October 2015, when she moved in with her son and his family. She was a faithful parishioner of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church while she lived in Chamois. She enjoyed quilting and gardening, especially strawberries. She always loved spending time with her grandchildren. She worked on the family farm in St. Aubert, growing thousands of watermelon and cantaloupe, and also at the hat factory in Chamois and shoe factory in Hermann. She is survived by: two children, Delmar (Catherine) Brown of Jefferson City and Linda (George) Armstrong of Fon du Lac, Wis.; grandchildren, Gary, Sandra and Ron Brown, Shelia Howlett, Lisa Stoneman, Kimberley Sprenger, Shantell Taylor, Stacy Winsor and Austin Brandt; several great- and great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and spouses, she was preceded in death by: two sons, Joe and Jon Brandt; three grandchildren, Susan Hill, Shelly Hartzler and Josh Baker; and siblings, Russell, Clifford and Marvin Staley and Rita (Staley) Wolfe. Family will receive friends from 9-11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Chamois. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, with Fr. Dave Means celebrating Mass. Burial will be in Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
