Eva Kliethermes, also known as Maggie, 87, of Taos, died Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Jefferson City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born December 24, 1928, in Schell City, Mo., a daughter of the late Theodore John and Antonia Sara (Maus) Kirsch. On June 10, 1950, she was united in marriage to Oscar Theodore Kliethermes at St. Louis of France Catholic Church in Bonnots Mill. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1974. Maggie was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She was a leader at the Senior Center in Taos. Maggie loved being in the outdoors, playing and swimming in the Osage and Gasconade Rivers, fishing, had a keen eye for mushroom hunting, gardening vegetables and flowers and camping under the stars. She was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and was always found in the stands at her children and her grandchildren's ball games. Her grandchildren had many nicknames for her including "Rap Grandma", "Grandpa" and "Grandma Clifford". She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and sitting in her glider drinking coffee and visiting with neighbors or who ever may happen by. Maggie's philosophy and advice to her children was "you are responsible for your own actions, no one can make your decisions for you" and "you can never play enough card games of Spite and Malice". She is survived by her children: Jean Pinnell (Tim) of Taos, Gerald "Gerry" Kliethermes of Jefferson City, Brenda Forck (Norman) of Taos, Stan Kliethermes (Mary Kay) of Holts Summit, Winston Kliethermes (Debby) of Jefferson City, Doug Kliethermes (Karen) of Wardsville, Lucius "Lou Dale" Kliethermes (Twyla) of Holts Summit, and Bev Boessen (J.P.) of Loose Creek; siblings: Beulah Dudenhoeffer of Jefferson City, Billy Kirsch of Linn, and Martha Jaegers (Bud) of Linn; brothers and sisters-in-law: Irene Kliethermes of Loose Creek, Alvina Jaegers of Bonnots Mill, Laurine Heet (Bernard) of Jefferson City, Harry Kliethermes (Bernice) of Linn, Edgar Kliethermes (Marlene) of Bonnots Mill, Dorothy Thessen (Walter) of Wardsville, and Vincent Prenger of Taos; 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, Maggie was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Stacey Kliethermes; two great-granddaughters: Taylor Phillips and Lauren Forck; siblings: Marie Zaring, Margaret "Mugs" Muenks, Nelson Kirsch, Mary Catherine "Dude" Roetter, Estella Salisbury, Ted Kirsch, Helen Linnenbrink, James "Bobby" Kirsch, Mildred Blight, Nick Kirsch, Charles "Shorty" Kirsch and Michael "Richard" Kirsch. Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2016, at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Taos with a prayer service at 3:15 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Wayne Boyer officiating. Interment will follow in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church or Hospice Compassus.
