Doris 'Tiny' Walters, 79, of California, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at her residence, surrounded by family and friends. She was born on September 7, 1936 in California, Mo., the daughter of Jesse and Emma (Hume) Walters, who preceded her in death. She thoroughly enjoyed fishing, going to the casino, loved entertaining and fixing meals for the 4th of July. She was a member of the California United Church of Christ. She worked at the Ritz Theatre, owned a gas station, was a Rain Soft Water Softener Co. Distributor, worked at Chesebrough-Ponds, and was the owner of Nic-Nac Cafe for 32 years. She was also a pillar of the community and employed many people over the years. Survivors include her loving companion, Maurita Swartwood, of the home; special friend, Jackie Heather of California, Mo.; four nephews, Randy Walters (Diana) of Holt Summit, Mo., Rick Walters (Ronda) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Steve Walters (Julie) of California, Mo., and David Walters of California, Mo.; two nieces, Tina Grothoff (Darryl) of Taos, Mo., and Tammy Hinton (Dave) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one grandson, Daniel Hartman (Christina) of Columbia, Mo.; one great-grandson, Peter Hartman; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Walters of California, Mo., and Betty Walters of St. Martins, Mo.; four great-nieces, and five great-nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ken Walters and Brooks Walters, and one sister, Dorothy Walters. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m., Monday, June 27, 2016 at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home with the Rev. Linda Pagel officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at Flag Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Moniteau Care Center Residents Fund and United Church of Christ, c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, Mo.
