Alice Reed Beckmeyer

Mrs. Alice Reed Beckmeyer, age 95, of Nashville, Ill., departed this life on Sunday, June 19, 2016, at Washington County Hospital in Nashville, Ill. Mrs. Beckmeyer was born on January 12, 1921 in Miller County, Mo., the daughter of Karl and Mabel (Stanton) Reed. She was united in marriage to G.R. "Bob" Beckmeyer on July 30, 1944 in California, Mo., and he preceded her in death on June 7, 1977. Alice was a 1944 graduate of the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo., where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. She was a self-employed merchant, with her husband, in Beckmeyer's Dry Goods Store for many years and also taught art and science at the Nashville Middle School. Alice was a 65 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Washington County Hospital Auxiliary, and was involved with the Friends of the Library in Nashville, Ill. Left to mourn her passing are her two sons, Gus Beckmeyer of Louisville, Ky. and Karl Beckmeyer and wife Debby of Morriston, Fla.; four grandchildren, Alicia Beckmeyer Springer, Reed Beckmeyer and wife Angie, Kristen Beckmeyer Spetrino and husband Jon, and Steven Beckmeyer; three great-grandchildren, Bryce Springer, Christian and Peter Beckmeyer; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Jim Reed; and a sister, Lyle Koch. Funeral services will be held at Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville, Ill. on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Beverly Kahle officiating and with interment to follow in the Masonic Cemetery in Nashville. Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville, Ill. on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and on Friday from 7:30 a.m. until the service hour. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Washington County Hospital Auxiliary or the St. Paul United Church of Christ and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
