Richard E. "Dick" Crader, 75, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital, surrounded by his large and loving family. He was born January 31, 1941, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of the late Charles and Mathilde (Buersmeyer) Crader. Dick was a 1959 graduate of Helias High School. He served his country in the United States Navy. He was united in marriage on May 2, 1964, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City to Barbara A. Baker who survives. Dick worked for Schulte's IGA on the Montgomery Ward Plaza as a manager for 22 years. He then worked for the City of Jefferson in the Street Department for 21 years retiring in 2003. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where he participated in many church activities. Dick had served the City of Jefferson as a city councilman. He also was a member of the VFW, 4-H, Central Missouri Master Gardener's, West Side Business Association, Central Bank Travel Club, and Friday Night Dinner Club. He volunteered with the Habitat Restore, Cole County Extension, and the Samaritan Center. Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, having coffee in the mornings with his coffee buddies, visiting with friends, watching his boys play sports, and watching car racing. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Barbara Crader, Jefferson City; four sons, Michael (Janneil) Crader, Overland Park, Kan.; Steven (Crystal) Crader, Bloomington, Ill.; John (Mary) Crader, Overland Park, Kan.; Matthew (Christian) Crader, Jefferson City; 11 grandchildren, Ashley Groeninger, Paul Crader, Keaghan Crader, Kyle Crader, Molly Crader, Kylie Crader, Cade Crader, Madison Crader, Kaitlyn Crader, Jack Crader, Chloe Crader; and one brother, Larry (Carol) Crader, Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Charlie, Jim, and Tom Crader. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Friday, July 29, 2016, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Saturday, July 30, 2016, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. I.C. Medina officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Vogelweid Learning Center, 314 West High Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101; Special Learning Center, 1115 Fairgrounds Road, Jefferson City, MO 65109; or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 355 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
