Robert A. Looten

Robert A. "Bob" Looten, 75, of Olean, Missouri, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, Missouri. He was born March 29, 1941, in Cole County, Missouri, the son of the late Ben Alexander and Nina (Farris) Looten. On November 26, 1961, in Olean, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Judith (Allen) Looten who survives of the home. He was a member of Spring Garden Baptist Church of Olean, Mo., serving as a deacon. He was employed with the Department of Corrections in the classification office for 24 years before retiring. He then went on to own a dairy farm for 16 years. He was also a member of the Osage Valley Steam Engine Association. Bob was a lifelong farmer in Miller County. He loved everything about farming, cows and tractors, including going to cow sales or watching them for hours on RFDtv. He was quick with a smile, a laugh or a joke that only he could tell. However, as much as he loved farming, he loved his family more. Bob was extremely proud of each of his children and grandchildren and loved to tell everyone all about them. He instilled his love of farming and family in each of them. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandpa and friend to all. He will be missed greatly by all that knew him. Other survivors include: daughter, Lynda Looten of Olean, Mo.; son, Gary Looten and wife Heather of Olean, Mo.; five grandchildren, Ryan, Brett, Morgan, Alexis and James Looten; brother, Kenneth Looten and wife Janet of Eugene, Mo. Visitation will be Sunday, December 4, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, Mo. Funeral Service will be Monday, December 5, 2016, at Spring Garden Baptist Church of Olean, Mo. at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Kim Keesler officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Garden Cemetery. Memorials in his name are suggested to Spring Garden Baptist Church Arrangements are under the direction and care of Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, Mo.
