Jane Rea Scheel

Jane Rea Scheel, 73, formerly of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away peacefully on Monday, August 8, 2016, in Lewisville, Texas. She was born January 11, 1943, daughter of the late Hugo Peter and Esther Marie (Monroe) Kemmer of Linn, Mo. She worked for the State of Missouri in many roles throughout 30 years of service and retired as the acting Director for the Horse Racing Commission. After retiring, Jane worked in an administrative role at Callaway Hills Stable and ended her professional career as sales support for the Jefferson City News Tribune. Always there with her gentle guidance, unconditional love, and a profound ability to laugh, Jane possessed a seemingly endless well of support to all the lives she touched. Her children, grandchildren, family and friends were always a priority which brought her great joy, especially during the holidays. Jane had a passion for the outdoors which included gardening, fishing or simply viewing the world from her back patio. Jane is survived by two children: Lezlie A. Dendy (Scheel) (husband Gary) of Flower Mound, Texas, and Jeffery S. Scheel of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three grandchildren: Nathanial W. Dendy, Noah J. Dendy and Willow R. Scheel; siblings: Joyce Hueste of Jefferson City, Mo., James Kemmer of Linn, Mo., and Jean Herndon of Blue Springs, Mo. A Celebration of Life will be held from 12:30 p.m. 2:30 p.m. on Friday, September 2, 2016 at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors at 2613 West Main Street, Jefferson City, MO 65109.
