Dale Leslie Ricks, 69, of Denver, Colo., died peacefully on Sunday, August 21, 2016, at his home. Dale was born in Campbell, Mo., to Ray and Alene Ricks on September 29, 1946. He graduated from Missouri University of Science and Technology with a degree in Civil Engineering. He spent most of his career with the Missouri Department of Transportation, retiring as the District Engineer in Springfield, Mo. After retirement he traveled, chasing beautiful weather and riding his motorcycle in the mountains at every opportunity. Dale is survived by his wife, Carol Ricks, with whom he lived according to the season in Kansas City, Mo., Keystone, Colo., and Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; daughters, Gwen Locher of Kansas City, Mo., Robyn Ricks of Columbia, Mo. and Kitty Meddows of Chicago, Ill; and beloved stepdaughters, Carrie Roling of Washington, D.C., Laura Motosko of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and Alicia Martin of Denver, Colo.; his son-in-laws; his 13 grandchildren; and his family and friends. Dale donated his body to science. A memorial service and luncheon will be held this Saturday, August 27, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hotel Vandivort Ballroom in Springfield, Mo. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dale's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that we honor Dale by contributing to one of the following funds.
