William R. "Bill" Goldammer

Mr. William R. "Bill" Goldammer, age 69 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Monday, April 21, 2014, at his home surrounded by family. Bill was born June 3, 1944, in Muroc, California a son of Elmer and Lorene Burke Goldammer. A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Bill was a 1962 graduate of Jefferson City High School and attended the University of Missouri at Columbia. He was a member of the B.P.O. of Elks, Lodge 513, the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 2693. Bill was the third generation owner of William R. Goldammer Construction Company. Bill will be remembered by his family, friends, and neighbors for his youthful spirit, his big heart, and handsome smile. He spent most of his life in construction with a love for operating heavy equipment. During his high school years, Bill played Jay football during the national winning streak. He later enlisted in the United States Navy for four years. He was always proud of his service and being a patriotic citizen for his country. Bill spent many fun summers at the Lake of the Ozarks with his family, especially his sons who were his pride and joy. His green thumb showed in his garden, where he was known for his juicy tomatoes. Bill was also a fine chef. He excelled at home cooking, grilling, and barbecuing chickens. Being an athlete, Bill loved all sports. His passion was golf. He enjoyed the competition and lifelong friendships found on the course. He loved his buddies at the Elks who have been of great support during these last weeks. He could make a room light-up with his presence. His sense of humor made us smile, laugh, or shake our heads on many occasions. Bill is now at peace and will be remembered in the many hearts he touched over the years. Survivors include: two sons, Travis A. Goldammer and his wife Cheyne of Dallas, Texas and B.J. Goldammer and his wife Eugena of Jefferson City, Mo.; two brothers, Jim Goldammer and his wife Vicki of Jefferson City, Mo. and Russell Goldammer and his wife Shirley of Jefferson City, Mo.; two sisters, Linda Kennison and her husband Ken of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Cindy Thompson and her husband Bob of Kansas City, Mo.; four grandchildren, Savannah, Ava, Mia and Briar; his former wife, Jacqueline Gowan Goldammer; and his close friend, Charlotte Baclesse. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014. A B.P.O. of Elks Memorial Service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, in the Freeman Chapel. Military honors will follow the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Calvary Lutheran High School, 2525 Route B, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
