Patricia Eskens, 74, of Jefferson City, passed away, Sunday, April 20, 2014, at her home. She was born on February 12, 1940, in Dedham, Iowa, a daughter of Lawrence and Florence (Goeke) Wolterman. She was united in marriage on June 6, 1960, in Templeton, Iowa, to Bill Eskens, who survives at the home. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Templeton, Iowa. She worked at Eskens Drywall from 1972 to 1998, and Busch's Florist from 1998 - 2003. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, St. Peter Catholic Church, Eucharistic minister and helped with funeral luncheons. Patricia loved to paint, travel, garden, and especially spend time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her six children: David Eskens (Rose) of Jefferson City, Joyce Herzing (Don) of Jefferson City, Allen Eskens (Joely) of Cleveland, Minnesota, Don Eskens (Pam) of Jefferson City, Bob Eskens (Peggy) of Lohman, and Susan Bloomer (Brian) of Jefferson City; 13 grandchildren: Dale Herzing (Amanda), Julie Gerlach (Mark), Jessica Herzing, Mikayla Eskens, Garrett Eskens, Seth Eskens, Abbey Eskens, Emily Eskens, Ashley Eskens, Amanda Ross (Bryan), Katy Loesch, Livia Bloomer and Lucas Bloomer; six great-grandchildren: Taylor Gerlach, Landon Gerlach, Makenzie Herzing, Brayden Herzing, Mia Ross and Zoey Ross; one brother: Harlan Wolterman of Bellevue, Nebraska; five sisters: Beth Klocke of Carroll, Iowa; Lou Ann Otto of Carroll, Iowa; Maxine Gingery of Onamia, Minnesota; Wanita Rolfes of Minnetonka, Minnesota; and Linda Klocke of Marion, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 3:15 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 25, 2014 at the St. Peters Catholic Church with Fr. Greg Meystrik officiating. Interment will follow in the Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the St. Peter Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
