Shirley Jean Whittle

Shirley Jean Whittle, age 84, of Brumley, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. She was born in Kansas City on January 26, 1929, daughter of the late William and Pearl (Cook) Anderson. On May 25, 1946, in Sedalia, Shirley married Gail Harding Whittle, who preceded her in death on September 22, 2002. Shirley was a graduate of Brumley High School. She was a member of Iberia First Christian Church, American Legion Post 105 Ladies Auxillary, Nimble Thimbles and the Iberia Eastern Star Chapter 537, where she held several posts. She is survived by two daughters, Gayla Hickey and husband Glen of Madison, South Dakota, and Janis Williams and husband Bruce of Iberia; two sons, Ronnie Whittle and wife Micki of Osceola, Iowa, and Mark Whittle and wife Becky of Brumley; one step-sister, Peggy Phillips (Nathan) of Osage Beach; eight grandchildren, Darin Hickey, Trisha Burklow, Matthew Williams, Mitchell Williams, Travis Whittle, Gabe Whittle, Amy Halley, and Megan Murray; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Claire (Tennyson) Popplewell; and one step-sister, Lucille (Kent) Crane. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with services immediately following at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at Iberia First Christian Church. Rev. Stan Way will officiate. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Iberia. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery or to Iberia First Christian Church.
