Bonnie Mae Dunlap, age 91 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Monday, September 16, 2013, at St. Joseph's Bluffs Nursing Center. Bonnie was born June 22, 1922, in Jefferson City, Mo., the daughter of Fred L. and India M. Wellman Dunlap. A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, Bonnie graduated from Jefferson City High School and William Wood College in Fulton, Mo. She also attended Northwestern University in Chicago, Ill. Bonnie was an active community volunteer who was an advocate for the betterment of Jefferson City. She was generous with her time, volunteering with Meals on Wheels, the Republican Party, and the Missouri Conservation Dept. She also taught swimming lessons. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Hawthorn Garden Club. Survivors include: one sister, Kathleen D. Shreves of Columbia, Mo.; four nieces, Leandra Spangler of Columbia, Mo., Denise Schindler and her husband Robert of St. Charles, Mo., Micki Jones and her husband Jay of Rohnert Park, Calif., and Sandi Huls and her husband James of Holts Summit, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Betty Lou Ells. A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 28, 2013, in the Chapel of Heisinger Bluffs, 1002 W. Main Street, Jefferson City, MO 65109 with Chaplain Jim Mueller officiating. Private interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Red Cross, 431 East McCarty Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
