Phyllis A. Rush

Phyllis A. Rush, 65, of Eugene, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013, in Tuscumbia. She was born on July 6, 1948, in Garden City, Kan., the daughter of the late Dale R. and Jesse M. (Horton) Lightner. She was united in marriage on November 25, 1972, in Eldon, to Sammy L. Rush, who survives of the home. Phyllis was a member of the Eldon Church of the Nazarene serving on the church board and was Sunday School Superintendent and Children's Bible Quizzing Leader. She enjoyed serving GOD and working church mission trips around the world. She was a 4-H volunteer for 37 years, a member of the Miller County Farm Bureau, and she and Sam were members of the FFA Alumni. She was owner/operator of Country Curl Beauty Shop, co-owner and operator of Sam Rush Farms of Eugene. She served as treasurer of Rush Chapel Cemetery and was a bus driver for Miller County R-3 school for 20 years. She loved children and was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and servant of Christ. Other survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Matt Kempker of Eugene; sons and daughters-in-law, Roy Dale and Torey Rush of Eugene, Jason and Stacy Rush of Eldon; six grandchildren, Brenden and Connor Kempker, Roy Dakota and Chesney Rush, Elizabeth and Austin Rush; brothers, Lloyd Lightner of Pierceville, Kan., Robert Lightner of Pierceville, Kan., Gearld Lightner of Pierceville, Kan., and Kyle Lightner of Pierceville, Kan.; sisters, Vivian Wehkamp of Ingills, Kan., Edith Wyatt of Peirceville, Kan., and Irma Reimer of Alma, Kan. Funeral service will be Friday, October 11, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Eldon Church of the Nazarene of Eldon, with Rev. Jerry W. Frye officiating. Interment will follow at the Rush Chapel Cemetery in Eugene. Memorials are suggested to the Children's Quizzing Program or Rush Chapel Cemetery.
