Romajean Simpson Talken, 87, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Jefferson City Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born on September 8, 1925, a daughter of the late Ralph and Fay Kelley Poston. She was married on December 31, 1945, to George Henry Simpson, who preceded her in death on April 5, 1996. She was married on December 13, 1997, to Gilbert L. Talken, who survives at the home. Romajean attended Elmer High School in Elmer, Missouri. She retired from Cheseborough Ponds in 1987 after 21 years of service. She was coordinator of the Cheseborough Ponds annual retiree's party and enjoyed making an appearance as Minnie Pearl. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church, Past President and Lifetime Member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 5, President of the 8th District American Legion Auxiliary Unit 5 and a member of the Jefferson Chapter 496 Eastern Star. She enjoyed dancing, decorating, entertaining and gardening, but the light of her life was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband Gilbert, she is also survived by two daughters: Joyce Fay Browner (Raymond) of Russellville and Sharon Jean Sapp (Lonnie) of Ashland; two sons: Ralph George Simpson (Patricia) and Robert David Simpson (Kathy), both of Jefferson City; one sister: Madeline Thompson of LaPlata, Missouri; five grandchildren: Heather Kaiser (Brian), Megan Hammann (Josh), Kelley Barnes (Tim), Laura Simpson, and Brandon Simpson; one step-granddaughter: Linda Martin (J.R.); six great-grandchildren, two step-great-granddaughters, and many other family and friends. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday, May 13 at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Taos. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Father Boyer officiating. Interment will be held in Riverview Cemetery.
