Henry J. Rieke, 65, of Holts Summit, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013, at his home. He was born on April 20, 1948, a son of the late Dr. Otto Edward and Rosemary (Westhues) Rieke. On July 24, 1971, Henry was united in marriage to Judith K. Kolb, who survives at the home. Henry attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and Helias High School. He was a 1970 graduate of Rockhurst University, Kansas City, Missouri, and received a Juris Doctorate of Law degree from St. Louis University in 1973. He was the St. Louis Public Defender from 1974 until 1976. He was an attorney at law with Webb and Rieke from 1983 until his retirement in 1999. Henry was a member of the Missouri Bar and a volunteer at St. Mary's Health Center. He enjoyed reading, opera, Country Dave's, camping, float trips, golf, barbequeing, and above all family both immediate and extended In addition to his wife Judy, he is also survived by his four children: Sean Michael (Brandi) Rieke, Paul Jacob (Erin) Rieke, Megan Rose Rieke and her husband Ben Hicks, Mark Henry Rieke and his fiancÈe Margaret Sampson, all of St. Louis; three brothers: Tim Rieke of Jefferson City, Pete Rieke of Jefferson City, and Otto "Rusty" Rieke of Kansas City; five sisters: Mary Murphy of Dublin, Ireland, Terri Lyskowski of Jefferson City, Molly Reardon of Kansas City, Sally Papreck of Columbia, and Sr. Susan Rieke of Leavenworth, Kansas; seven grandchildren: Mark, Derek, Cassidy, Kayla, Jacob, Aiden, and Samuel Rieke. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2013, at Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Msgr. David Cox and Rev. I.C. Medina officiating. Burial will be private for family. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Helias High School.
