Norman H. Kloeppel

Norman H. Kloeppel, 74, of Westphalia, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at home with his wife at his side, after an eighteen month battle with cancer. Norman was born on December 27, 1938, to the late George and Helen (Nilges) Kloeppel. He was a 1957 graduate of Fatima High School. Norman was united in marriage on May 30, 1964, to Eleanor Odendahl at Holy Family Church in Freeburg, Missouri. Norman served in the Army and later worked for Delong's, and Rackers and Baclesse in Jefferson City. He became self-employed in 1973 as a carpet installer with Jim Wilbers. He was a partner of K&W Floor Covering until his retirement in 2007. Norman was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia, Missouri. He was also a member of the Westphalia Lions Club and the Blacksmithing Association of Missouri. Norman enjoyed numerous hobbies including blacksmithing, working on his saw mill, farming, gardening and building. Norman's motto was "the bigger the better" and he loved strong, sturdy construction. Norman is survived by his wife Eleanor, and his 11 children: Wanda (Andy) Rehagen of Westphalia; Carol (Ross) Kemna of Wardsville, Paul (Shelley) Kloeppel of New Bloomfield, Roger (Mary) Kloeppel of Westphalia, Mark (Gena) Kloeppel of Freeburg, Glen (Kathleen) Kloeppel of Frankenstein, Sheri (Glenn) Struemph of Argyle, Katy (Steve) Werdehausen of Meta, Jacob (Kelli) Kloeppel of Westphalia, Dana (James) Lee of Centertown, and Adam Kloeppel of Jefferson City. Norman is also survived by 27 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren, as well as his brothers Jim (Vickie) Kloeppel of Elk Grove, California, Mike (Ginger) Kloeppel of Westphalia, Charlie (Janet) Kloeppel of Westphalia, and a sister-in-law, Pat Kloeppel of Wardsville. Norman was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Anthony Kloeppel and Jerome Kloeppel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Friday, May 10, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia with the Rev. Mark S. Smith officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m., Thursday, at the Lions Den on Highway 63 in Westphalia with a prayer service at 2:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the St. Joseph School, 123 East Main Street, P.O.
