Lorene Margaret Amos, age 81, of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Adams Street Place in Jefferson City. She was born December 20, 1931, in Russellville, the daughter of Emil Gustav Otto and Anna Fischer Raithel. On November 19, 1951, she was married to Olen Vernon Amos, who preceded her in death on June 6, 1986. Lorene was a lifelong resident of Russellville. She graduated from Russellville High School in 1949. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville where she was a active in the WELCA, Day Circle Quilting Group, helped with Lutheran World Relief (LWR) quiltmaking projects and was a member of the Senior Group called Retreads. She was also a member of the Friendly Neighbors Quilting Club and the WPFA. As a young woman Lorene was a homemaker and was later employed by Chesebrough-Ponds for 19 years until her retirement in 1991. She had a love of flowers and gardening, quilting, cooking, ceramics, drives in the country and spending time with her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be remembered as a cheerful, kind and loving spirit. In recent years Lorene also enjoyed spending time with her friend and companion, Vernon Farris. She is survived by four children: Nancy Sanders, Tulsa, Okla., Darrell Amos (Toni), Russellville, Diane Shahdadi, Jefferson City, and Shirley Whitley, Russellville; grandchildren: Neima Shahdadi, Parisa Shahdadi, Shannon Sullivan, Amy Miller (Mike), Lannie Sullivan (Jamie), and Justin Patterson; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Edmond Raithel, Arthur Raithel and Elmer Raithel; two sisters: Lydia Raithel (in infancy) and Estella Conroy; and by two sons-in-law, Philip Sanders and Hadi Shahdadi. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 5, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville with Pastor William Say officiating. Interment will be in the Enloe Cemetery in Russellville. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the church on Sunday. Memorial contributions are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church, Lewy Body Dementia Association or Alzheimer's Association.
