Rosemary Ann Kaskie, 87, of Peoria, Illinois, formerly of Vienna, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013, in the Legend Oaks of Plum Creek Healthcare, Kyle, Texas, with her family by her side. Rosemary had been in failing health for some time. She was born on April 8, 1925, at Vienna, Missouri, a daughter of Herman John and Mathilda Rose (Redel) Sandbothe. Rosemary grew up at Vienna where she was a member of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church and had attended and graduated from the Visitation Parish School and the Vienna Public School. She was united in marriage on August 27, 1948, at St. Louis, to Claude Francis Kaskie of Des Moines, Iowa, and to this union, 10 children were born. After 13 moves in 17 years, Rosemary and Claude settled in Peoria, Illinois, with their 10 children. She was a woman of unbelievable faith and a pillar of strength. Her Catholic faith was exemplified by the ministering she did in her daily life to all of those who crossed her path. Those left to mourn the passing of Rosemary include her family of seven sons and three daughters: Madonna A. Kaskie, Peoria, Illinois, Donald C. Kaskie, Inverness, Florida, Mary L. Pfeffer, Austin, Texas, Dorothy E. Robinson, Brooksville, Florida, Robert C. Kaskie, McAlester, Oklahoma, Mark F. Kaskie, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Thomas R. Kaskie, Peoria, Illinois, Paul J. Kaskie, Buda, Texas, Joseph M. Kaskie, Fair Play, Missouri, and G. Peter Kaskie, Buda, Texas; 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Ambrose Sandbothe, St. Louis, Louis Sandbothe, Rocky Mount, Eugene Sandbothe, Wardsville, and Arnold Sandbothe, Lake Ozark; one sister, Bernice Smith, Ballwin; nephews; nieces; and other relatives and friends. She has left a legacy of faith, love, selflessness, and courage to all of those who knew her. Caregivers knew her as "Giggles", Rosemary was always smiling, laughing, and loved to play practical jokes on them. Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband on August 20, 1995; her father on December 30, 1976; her mother on January 31, 1966; three brothers, Raymond Sandbothe on July 4, 2004, Charles Sandbothe on October 28, 2006, and Clarence Sandbothe; and one infant sister, Pauline Antonia Sandbothe, at age 6 weeks on March 11, 1934. Visitation will be held for Rosemary from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 31, 2013, followed by a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. in the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes with the Rev. Msgr. Marion J. Makarewicz officiating. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Rosemary at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 1, 2013, in the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Vienna, with the Rev. Msgr.
