Ted Helmig, 81, of Eldon, formerly of Linn, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013, at the Ozark Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Osage Beach, Missouri. He was born July 10, 1931, in Linn, Missouri, the son of the late George and Blanche (Carwile) Helmig. He was united in marriage in 1954 to Norma Tyree, and she preceded him in death. Ted attended Pointer's Creek School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and then with the Missouri National Guard for over 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 5 of Jefferson City and VFW of Rocky Mount, Missouri. Survivors include two sons: Richard Helmig of Rocky Mount, Missouri and Dale Helmig of Eldon, Missouri; five grandchildren: Joy Helmig, Dalton Helmig, Kailey Helmig, Sara Dean Helmig, and Danielle Helmig; and one great- granddaughter: Leah. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at the Millard Family Funeral Chapel Linn. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 28, 2013, at the Millard Family Funeral Chapel Linn with Rev. Todd Foreman officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Lane Cemetery in Linn, Missouri. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
