Cliff H. Caldwell

Clifford "Buck" H. Caldwell, 86, of Hartsburg, Missouri, departed this earth for his heavenly home on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at his residence. Clifford was born September 13, 1926, in Maryville, Missouri, and later moved to Michigan with his parents Clark H. and Marjorie M. Caldwell. After graduating from Roosevelt High School, in Wyandotte, Michigan, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a Combat Air Crewman during WWII. Following the war, Cliff returned to Missouri and in 1956 he began his career with the Missouri Department of Conservation at Fountain Grove Conservation Area. He was later promoted to Manager of the Charles W. Green Wildlife Area, near Ashland. Near the end of his 36 year career with the Department, Cliff received the E. Sydney Stephens Professional Wildlife Award. This award is the highest honor presented by the Missouri Chapter of The Wildlife Society with the purpose of defining outstanding professional contribution to wildlife resource management. Upon retirement, Cliff and his wife Le, built their dream home where their family gathers for fun, fishing and hunting. Cliff's love of nature was accompanied by his belief that his land was a gracious gift on loan from God. In addition to wildlife organization memberships, Cliff was also a member of Liberty Baptist Church, VFW, American Legion and the Masonic Lodge. Cliff is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years; adopted brother, James Caldwell; three children, Bruce H. Caldwell (Sharon), Gail L. Wally, Norman C. Caldwell; grandchildren, Heather Hanson, Hollie Still, Karissa Lee, Robbie Williamson, Scottie Williamson; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mom, Ella D. Caldwell; sister, Eva Marguerite Caldwell; and grandson, Scott L. Caldwell. Cliff's life and faith was founded on this promise: "For God so loved that world that He gave His only begotten son, and whosoever believeth in Him shall never perish, but receive everlasting life." - John 3:16 His family and friends will always remember Cliff as a humble man of God who was deeply dedicated to his family, career and country. The memorial and celebration of life service will be held on March 26, 2013, at 2:30 p.m., at Liberty Baptist Church, 7461 N. Brown Station Road, Columbia, MO. Visitation will also be held at the church preceding the service at 1:00 pm. His son, Bruce Caldwell, Pastor of Liberty Baptist Church, will officiate the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Liberty Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Columbia Crematory.
