Mrs. Mildred L. Larkin, age 94 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Adams Street Place. Mildred was born on August 20, 1918, in Canton, Mo., a daughter of Henton and Beulah (Cowgill) Briscoe. She graduated from Canton High School in Canton Mo. Mildred was married on November 3, 1939, in Canton, Mo., to Leo E. Larkin, who preceded her in death on May 24, 1995. A resident of the Jefferson City area for over 70 years, Mildred was a homemaker for the majority of her life. She was employed for over 12 years at Missouri Division of Employment Security until a boating accident forced her retirement in 1961. In her earlier years, she enjoyed cross stitching, crocheting, and playing pinochle and canasta with friends. She will be remembered for her loving ways and sweet nature to all. Survivors include: one daughter, Marcia Reed of Jefferson City, Mo.; two grandchildren, Dana Payne and her husband Scotty of New Bloomfield, Mo. and Michele Baug of Rochester, N.Y.; four great-grandchildren, Justin Hawkins, Blair Payne, Tanner Payne, and Katie Rose Baug; one great-great-grandson, Kyler Hawkins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Leo Larkin; one daughter, Sharon Schrimpf; one brother, Clyde Briscoe; one sister, Juanita Stephenson; one granddaughter, Denise Cox; and two sons-in-law, Teddy Reed and Robert Schrimpf. Graveside services and entombment will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 11, 2013, at the Mausoleum of Hawthorn Memorial Gardens with Deacon Steve Kliethermes officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice Advantage in Columbia or the American Cancer Society.
