Charles F Schriefer, age 74, of Parkville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013, in North Kansas City, Missouri. Charlie (Chuck) was born October 27, 1938, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the son of the late Alfred Friedrich Schriefer and Leta Ova (Farthing) Schriefer. After spending his early years in Jefferson City, Charlie completed his formal education with a major in mathematics and a BS from the school of Engineering at the University of Missouri, Columbia. In 1967, Charlie married Susan Harrison Harty, his wife of 46 years, and together they developed a successful career in the agricultural industry. Charlie held various management positions with Ralston Purina, St. Louis and was Director of Manufacturing and Engineering for Consolidated Nutrition, LC, Omaha, Neb. He later founded Schriefer Consulting and Engineering with extensive travels required throughout the United States, Canada, Asia, and South America. Charlie retired in 2000, and he and Susan relocated to Riss Lake, Parkville, Mo. to be closer to family. Besides his wife Susan, he is survived by his three daughters; Kristin Lynn Schriefer Mudgett (Rusty) of Shawnee, Kan., Susan Elizabeth Schriefer, Westport, Kansas City, Mo., and Leslie Anne Schriefer Sellmayer (David) of Colorado Springs, Colo., also surviving are five grandchildren; Luke and William Sellmayer, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Samantha, Jack and Joshua Mudgett of Shawnee, Kan. and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his brother, Herbert Alfred Schriefer and sister, Shirley Ann (Schriefer) Bemboom. A Celebration of Life has been scheduled for Sunday, March 10, 2013, from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at The Amos Family Funeral Home 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas 66203. Memorial Contributions in Charles's name may be made to The American Lung Association (www.lung.org) via the Wall of Remembrance at the Charles Schriefer fund, 6701 W 64th Street, Suite 110, Cloverleaf Office Park Building #5, Overland Park, Kansas 66202.
