Eva "Jean" Bashaw Lemke, 82, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, March 3, 2013, at the Golden Living Center. She was born on February 3, 1931, in Mt. Ida, Arkansas, a daughter of the late John Harmon Bashaw and Nola Snow Bashaw. Jean was a 1949 graduate of DeQueen High School in DeQueen, Arkansas, and attended College of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas. She was an account clerk for the Texas State Comptroller Sales Tax Division from 1962 to 1967 in Austin, Texas. She was a member of the St. Joseph's Cathedral and Still Hospital Guild. In her later years at the nursing home, Jean was best known for her love of Diet Coke. She is survived by her three children: Christina Lemke Clem of DeSoto, Texas, Paul Harmon Lemke of Jefferson City, and Theresa Lemke Hedrick of Jefferson City; one brother: Glen Bashaw of Monticello, Arkansas; one sister: Vera Sue Bowers of Monticello, Arkansas; seven grandchildren: Joshua, Chelsea, Jonathan, Nicholas, Bethany, Cortney, and Stephanie; 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter: Catherine Ann Lemke. Friends will be received from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2013, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Father Fred Elskamp officiating. Burial will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Golden Living Center in Jefferson City.
