Edna Margaret Knipp

Mrs. Edna Margaret Knipp, 92, of Tipton, died Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Tipton Oak Manor, Tipton. She was born August 14, 1920, near Pilot Grove, a daughter of William and Elizabeth Dick Wirths. On June 11, 1941, she was married to Wilbur Knipp, who survives of the home. Mrs. Knipp attended school at Martinsville. In 1938 her parents moved to Wichita, Kan., and then she moved to Tipton to work at the Tipton Pants Factory. She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Tipton. She enjoyed playing bingo, cards, going to the casino, playing the organ and spending time with her family. She made more than 100 quilts, many of which were given to family members and organizations. Survivors include: one son, Arnold Knipp with his wife Ruth, Tipton; three daughters, Judy Orscheln with her husband Ron, Olathe, Kan., Norma Allee with her husband Gary, Columbia, and Linda Knipp with her husband Roy, Tipton; 11 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 5 at St. Andrew Church. The Altar Society will lead the rosary at 3:30 p.m. and a prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 6 at St. Andrew Church with Fr. Fred Elskamp officiating. Burial will be in St. Andrew Cemetery, Tipton. The family suggests memorials to Hospice Compassus and St. Andrew School. Arrangements are under the direction of Meisenheimer Funeral Home, Tipton.
