Edith R. Holzhauser, 82, of Portland, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013, at St. Mary's Health Center. She was born November 16, 1930, in Callaway County, the daughter of the late John Gus Rehma and the late Loretta Sieckman Rehma. On September 26, 1953, Edith was united in marriage to Nelson "Buzzy" Holzhauser, who preceded her in death. Edith was a faithful member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Portland and a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary #2657 in Fulton. She enjoyed watching Cardinal baseball games, soap operas, embroidery, playing cards, and watching game shows. She worked at Florsheim Shoe Factory and Riverview Nursing Center and was the owner and operator of Holzhauser's Tavern in Portland for 25 years. Edith will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by five children, Connie Taylor of Mokane, Joe Holzhauser and wife Faye of Portland, Delores Jean Blackburn of Mokane, Jerome Holzhauser and wife Lynda of Columbia, and Kimberly Curdt and husband Greg of Portland; eight grandchildren, Richard Taylor, Angie Davidson, Steve Stowers, Stephanie Stambaugh, Christina Holzhauser, Brian Foster, Aaron Foster, and Renee Holzhauser; 14 great-grandchildren, Robert Taylor, Kenny Taylor, Nicole Taylor, Sarah Taylor, Cyrus Holzhauser, Dustin Higgins, Kaleb Stowers, Heather Stowers, Alyssa Laughlin, Hayley Stambaugh, Ashley Stambaugh, Megan Stambaugh, Derrick Davidson, and Blake Davidson; two great-great- grandchildren; four sisters, Kay Crump, Beverly Cregar, Mary Head, and Anna Coleman; one aunt, Grace Rehma; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; one special cousin, Karen Huntsman; and special friends, Mike and Beverly Oney, and Vickie Catalina and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Edith was preceded in death by one son, Jeffery Holzhauser; one son-in-law, Andrew "Pete" Taylor; one grandson, John Taylor; and one brother, Vincent Rehma. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Reverend Marshall Crossnoe, Brother David Coleman, and Deacon Paula Hartsfield officiating. Interment will be held Portland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, also at Maupin Funeral Home.
