Julia Renee Kerns

Julia Renee Kerns, age 48 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Monday, June 17, 2013. Julia was born July 22, 1964, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Dr. Larry R. Kerns and Judith Ann Curtit-Kerns, both deceased. She was a 1982 graduate of Jefferson City High School and received a Bachelors degree of Social Work from the University of Missouri - Columbia in 1990 where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She spent many years with the Missouri Department of Family Services and Department of Aging. As fulfilled as she was in helping others, Julia also enjoyed using her artistic side with crafts and jewelry making, as well as spending time with her extended family. Survivors include: one brother, Kurt Kerns and his wife Bonnie Blume of Richmond Heights, Mo. She lovingly adored her three nieces: Lily, Ella, and Isla Kerns of Richmond Heights. She was very close to her two uncles, Jack Curtit and his wife Mary and Jerry Curtit and his wife Brenda, both of Jefferson City Mo., and two aunts, Susan Eidson and Marilyn Curtit, both of Jefferson City, Mo. Her cousins were great friends and always there when she needed them: Cary Gampher, Eric Curtit, Dustin Curtit, Shelly Newman, Jill Verslues, Lindsay Curtit and Joseph Eidson. Julie did not know a stranger, and her friends are too many to note. She is loved and will be missed by many. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. Friday. A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Friday, June 21, 2013, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Keith Vessell officiating.
