Frieda Mae Lamar

Frieda Mae Lamar, 86, of Jefferson City, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Select Specialty Hospital in St. Charles, Missouri. Frieda was born on March 31, 1927, in Eldorado, Illinois, to Frederick A. and Emma Lorine (Thompson) Dettmer. She attended East Alton-Wood River Community High School and Lakeview College of Commerce. She was married on August 24, 1951, in East Alton, Illinois, to Jerry Lee Lamar who survives at their home. Frieda loved caring for her family and her home. She was an avid collector of antiques. She loved history and genealogical research. She enjoyed reading about history and biographies. She was an active member of many historical groups including the Jane Randolph Jefferson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband; one daughter: Ellen (Dan) Sandhaus of Jefferson City, Mo.; one son: Fred Lamar of Washington, Mo.; one sister: Mary Riggs of Jefferson City, Mo.; four grandchildren: Allison (Joshua) Kuebler, Brian (Adrienne) Sandhaus, Gail Lamar, Rebecca (Jacob) Taylor; two great-grandchildren: Jonas Taylor and Timothy Taylor; and many nieces and nephews who she was close to. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers-in-law. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2013, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Reverend Russ Bowder officiating. Graveside Services and Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2013, at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey, Illinois. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Jane Randolph Jefferson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
