Harold Howard Henley

Harold Howard Henley, 76, of Jefferson City, died peacefully Sunday, June 16, 2013, at St. Mary's Health Center surrounded by his family. He was born on December 12, 1936, in Jefferson City, the son of the late Marcus McKinley and Alice (Dorl) Henley. Harold served with the United States Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Ranger. He was united in marriage on May 13, 1961, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City, to Virginia Margaret Sandbothe who survives. Mr. Henley worked for Lincoln University as a carpenter for 15 years, Leland E. Fischer Construction as a finish carpenter for 19 years, and Schulte's IGA as a meat cutter for seven years. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. Harold was devoted to his faith and his family and enjoyed reading and sports. Other survivors include: three children, Tom (Gaiya) Henley, Lohman; Janet (Keith) Roark, Jefferson City; Julia (Jeff) Cassmeyer, Jefferson City; 11 grandchildren, Russell (Heather) Henley; Marcus (Emily) Henley; Erika Henley; Emily Henley; Laura Roark; Greta Roark; Georgia Roark; Mia Roark; Nathaniel Roark; Kellen Cassmeyer; Stefan Cassmeyer; three great-grandchildren, Weston Henley; Maddox Henley; Hailey Henley; six siblings, Mary (Meredith) Fry, Anderson, Ind.; Joan O'Neall, Denver Colo.; Shirley Ferguson, Scottsdale Ariz; Kathryn Henley, Jefferson City; Luella Alley, Jefferson City; Herbert Henley, Jefferson City; and a sister-in-law, Mary Linhardt, Jefferson City. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Jean Henley; a brother, Earl Henley; a sister-in-law, Connie Henley; and two brothers-in-law, Kelly O'Neall and William Ferguson. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark A. Porterfield officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with a rosary recited at 9 a.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Catholic Church, 216 Broadway Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101; Helias Catholic High School Foundation, 1106 Swifts Highway, Jefferson City, MO 65109; or to Masses.
