Leroy Delmar Shivers

Leroy Delmar Shivers, 72, of Le Feria, Texas, formerly of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2013, in Houston, Texas. Lee was born August 9, 1940, in Russelville, a son of Delmar Shivers and Bertha (Percival) Shivers. Lee served in the United States Navy, attached to the Marine Corp from September 1957 through August 1961. He will be remembered for his never ending sense of humor and concern for others. He was a foster parent for many years. Survivors include a daughter, Leesa Johnson, of Jefferson City; stepchildren, Lisa Van Vranken of Jefferson City, Julie Havrum (Steve) of Lohman, Andy Schnieders of Jefferson City, and Chelle Schnieders of Jefferson City, along with numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, James Shivers (Debbie) of Lake Ozark, and Steve Shivers (Libby) of Jefferson City. In addition, a special friend, Helen Fenimore of La Feria, Texas survives. Lee's wishes were to be cremated. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date in Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Arlington National Funeral Home in Houston, Texas.
