Violet E. Idel, 86, of Jefferson City, passed away July 7, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving daughters. She was born on November 28, 1926, in Gerald, a daughter of Mary E. Koelling and William H. Reed. On March 3, 1990, she was united in marriage to Harvey H. Idel Sr., who preceded her in death on May 3, 2013. Violet was a 1944 graduate of Sullivan High School. She worked at Exchange Bank for many years prior to becoming the owner of Capital Electronics. Vi's passions were many, she loved to fish at "her" fishing rock at the Lake of the Ozarks, and traveled many miles in her motor home with her late husband Harvey. She was an excellent cook winning blue ribbons at the MO State Fair for her peanut butter cookies, fudge, lye soap, apple pies and canned beets. She won many gold medals at the Show-Me State Senior Games in bowling. Her roses, cocks combs and spider flowers were always so beautiful. Vi was a quilter, she hand made quilts, embroidered, and sold her quilts all over the U.S. Most of all, her passion was auctions. In the ways of music, she loved Cajun music. She is survived by her five daughters; one son; four step-daughters; two step-sons; one sister; 31 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, one sister, six brothers, one great-grandchild and one step-daughter. Friends will be received from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Murl Nash officiating. Interment will follow in the Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Hospice Compassus. Arrangements are under the direction of HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors, 2613 W.
