Richard (Rick) Fuhrman, age 80, of Jefferson City, passed away Thursday July 4, 2013, at Adams Street Place in Jefferson City, Missouri. He was the son of the late Frank W. and Margaret (Joyce) Fuhrman. On October 28, 1954, he was united in marriage to Darlene (Wiedeman) who survives at the home. He was a graduate of Everest High School in Everest, Kansas. He retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. Following his military service he worked for Butler Community Hospital in Butler, Missouri. He later retired from the Missouri Hospital Association after working for 10 years as a Purchasing Agent. Rick was a member of St. Martins Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, golf, softball and bingo. While serving in the Air Force he was a member of the men's fast pitch traveling softball team. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus (where he was known for his famous chicken soup). He was also a member of the VFW Post 35 in St. Martins. He loved barbecuing for his family and giving those awesome bear hugs. Rick is survived by five children, Randall Fuhrman (Martha) of Jefferson City, Missouri; Debra Jungmeyer (Kevin) of Jefferson City, Missouri; Pamela Holman (Kenny) of Forney, Texas; Terry Fuhrman (Kay) of Frisco, Texas and Scott Fuhrman (Elizabeth) of Forney, Texas; one sister, Jeanne Hansen (lifelong companion Dave) of Salina, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Shawna, Danielle, Devin, Ricky, Tiffany, Carter and Brooke; four great-grandchildren, Gavin, Dylan, Kenleigh and Eliza; one sister-in-law, Beverly Fuhrman of Everest, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Kyle Billington and one brother, Robert Fuhrman. Friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2013, at the Houser Millard Funeral Home, with a prayer service proceding at 2:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2013, at St. Martins Catholic Church with Father Ed Schmidt officiating. Entombment will follow with full military honors at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to: the St. Martins Knights of Columbus or the Kyle Billington Memorial benefiting the Jefferson City High School Cross Country Scholarship Program.
