Bernel F. Benson

Bernel F. Benson, 81, of Morrison, Missouri, passed away Friday, July 5, 2013, at St. Mary's Heath Center. He was born in Morrison, the son of the late William A. and Flora M. (Leimkuhler) Benson. On October 22, 1951, he was united in marriage to Alice M. Kasson, she survives at the home. Bernel was a metal worker and a farmer. He also owned and operated Rocky Ridge Kennel. Bernel served in the United States Army. He was a member of the St. James United Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, most of all spending time with his family. Along with his wife he is survived by three daughters: Deborah Schluss (Robert) of Rhineland, Shellaine Seifert (Jerry) of Morrison and Christine Cramer (Ricky) of Morrison; one brother: William Benson of Caseyville, Illinois; six grandchildren: Angela Polacek (Robert Arnsmeyer) of Hermann, Michelle Ellis (Cody) of Hermann, Teressa Seifert (Eric Beaulieu) of Linn, Rebecca Edwards (Marty) of Ashland, Timothy Cramer of Morrison and Katlyn Cramer of Morrison; two step-grandchildren: Alan Schluss (Jocelyn) and family and Stephanie Blankenship (David) and family; seven great-grandchildren: Brittany, Brandon, Madison, Logan, Allison, Harlee and Faith. He was preceded in death by one sister Geneva Mines. Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2013, at the St. James United Church of Christ. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2013, at the St. James United Church of Christ. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery.
