Joyce Gwendola Watkins, age 77, of Iberia, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2013, at Villa Marie in Jefferson City. She was born near Iberia on May 17, 1935, daughter of the late William Harvey and Lottie (Bond) Barr. On November 24, 1955, in Eldon, Joyce married Henry Bradley Watkins, who survives at the home. Joyce attended St. Anthony Elementary School and graduated from Iberia High School in 1953. She continued her education in Springfield at Draughon Business School graduating in 1954. Joyce was employed with the American Red Cross and as a civil service employee at Fort Leonard Wood during the 1960's and 1970's. After retiring, Joyce cared for her parents before returning to the work force at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach. Joyce was a member of Iberia Baptist Church and past member of the Iberia Red Hatitudes. Joyce loved traveling and caring for her large variety of pets and flowers over the years. She is also survived by one daughter, Valerie Watkins of Jefferson City; one son, Bruce Watkins and wife Jayme of Independence; two grandchildren, Zach Watkins of Fort Hays, and Rhiannon Watkins of Santiago, Chile. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with services immediately following at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Bro. Charles LaChance will officiate. Interment will be in Hickory Point Cemetery near Iberia. Memorial contributions are suggested the American Cancer Society.
