Mr. Richard A. 'Dick" Ewers, age 77 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013, at his home. Dick was born on February 12, 1935, in Evansville, Indiana a son of Emmanuel and Velia Johnson Ewers. He was married on August 24, 1957, in Evansville, Indiana to Dorothy "Dotty" Dilger. Dick graduated from Memorial High School in Evansville, Indiana and from the University of Evansville. He enlisted in the United States Navy Reserve. A resident of the Central Missouri area since 1967, Dick owned and operated Ewers Tires, Inc., for 46 years until his retirement in 2013. He was a member and usher at the Cathedral of St. Joseph. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie 2693; Knights of Columbus; the Jefferson City Host Lions Club; Meadow Lake Acres Country Club; the Racquet Club, the Y.M.C.A., Jefferson City Country Club; Rotary Club; and served as a Scout Leader with Troop 111. His hobbies included golf, playing cards, his morning coffee group and spending quality time with his family. Survivors include: his wife of 56 years, Dotty Ewers; six children, Mark Ewers and his wife Nola of St Louis, Mo., Beth Ewers of Ashland, Mo.; Scott Ewers and his wife Lisa of Columbia, Mo., Ann Ewers Dagg and her husband David of Edmond, Okla., Jane Ewers Coppinger and her husband Tim of Kansas City, Mo.; and Ken Ewers and his wife Tameria of Jefferson City, Mo.; one brother, Bob Ewers of Evansville, Ind.; and 11 grandchildren, Cassie Strope, Jacob Strope, Megan March Atteberry, Megan Molloy, Madeline Molloy, Courtney Coppinger, Raegan Coppinger, Addison Coppinger, Ben Ewers, Drew Ewers, Jack Ewers. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Don Ewers, and one grandson, Chase March, on September 29, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Reverend Dylan Schrader officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to C.H.A.M.P.
