Betty Ruth Gilliam

Betty Ruth Gilliam, age 85, of Iberia, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013, at Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Tuscumbia. She was born in Miller County on January 1, 1928, daughter of the late Luther William and Jessie Venice (Cochran) Duncan. On April 25, 1945, in Brumley, Betty married Curtis Ray Gilliam, who preceded her in death on July 1, 2002. Betty was a member of Mt. Union Church of Christ near Brumley. She is survived by one daughter-in-law, Jan Gilliam of Jefferson City; two granddaughters, Amie Wheeler and husband Andrew of Jefferson City and Cassandra Anderson and husband Timothy of Holts Summit; two great-granddaughters, Madison and Mackenzie Wheeler; one sister, Marjorie Sue Nelson of Iberia; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was also preceded in death by one son, Jack D. Gilliam on April 29, 2000; one brother, Cordell Duncan and one sister, Rosalee Long. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., with services immediately following at 11 a.m., on Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Brent Newton will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Union Cemetery near Brumley. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Fair Haven Children's Home, 3132 North Fair Haven Loop, Strafford, MO 65757 or to the Miller County Nursing Home, 1157 Highway 17, Tuscumbia, MO 65082.
